Ecuador 2012- Christie

I can't believe we have been through three days of clinic. This trip has gone by so fast and I have loved every minute of it. Rachel, Taylor, and I run the station for photos. Each person that walks in the clinic gets their picture taken and can decorate a frame for their photo. We also give each patient a toothbrush and toothpaste, and all the kids get sunglasses. I have enjoyed playing with the kids this week and with the help of the kids and our translator Sabrina, I have learned many Spanish phrases including "sonrie" which means smile and "que chevere" which means "how cool." Not only have I gotten to play with the children, but I've also had my hand in dentistry by giving injections and cleaning teeth. Rachel even extracted a tooth today. There has been so much laughter on this trip and many special moments. Today I watched Melanie help fit reading glasses on a man that had very poor eye sight. You could tell his new glasses were life changing because after he received his glasses he shook everyone's hand in the room. The people in Equador are so loving and thankful. I am always embraced with hugs from children and adults. I even received a few kisses on the cheek today from some kids. Also today as this woman was leaving she gave me a hug and said "Dios te bendiga" which means God Bless You. We are helping people through medical needs, but most of all we are hoping to share the love of Christ. God's love can be seen through everyone involved in helping make this trip possible and I am so thankful to be apart of it.
God Bless,
Christie
