Ecuador 2012- Rebekah

I cannot believe our week is coming to an end. It has been an incredible experience so far and one that I will never forget. I have loved serving the people of Ecuador and also serving alongside some awesome individuals. I have also enjoyed our time together at night during devotionals. Monday night Hunter talked about the importance of having a correct vision and seeing people the way God sees them. Tuesday night my aunt (Leslie) talked about distractions that keep us from following Christ whole-heartedly. She used an incredible analogy: do we use "magnetic North" or "true North" as our guide....meaning do we have distractions in life that deter us from following Christ (magnetic) or are we following Christ with everything we have (true). And she even posed the question, are we even on the map....meaning have we even experienced God's grace through Jesus. Last night, Matt spoke about what being a mentor is. He used a passage from 2 Timothy 2:2 "The things which you have heard from me in the presnece of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." He illustrated how Darren and my father (Nelson) have mentored us in hopes that we might one day pass it along to others. Being intentional with our lives and investing in others is what we as followers of Christ are called to do. There is one more devotional to go...I imagine it will challenge us in some sort of way to always be "pointing others to Jesus" in all that we do.
